Free Credit Report Once A Year
Well, there is good news and bad news!
While it is possible to get an absolutely
free credit report , as with all "free"
things in this life, it comes at a price. In this case there are a few hurdles to overcome and usually a time lag
in getting them. If you need or want the report quickly and easily, then maybe you would be better to pay the small
price and be done with it.
Personally, if I can save myself time and hassle for a reasonable cost, I'll do it.
Why take the trouble to do it the hard way, my time is more valuable to me.
Loops:
Remember that you can only get this free credit report once a year and you need to be
qualified.
The offline order process involves manually sending
a letter to each bureau to ask for the free credit
report , it's called an "annual credit report" and you need to be
qualified in one of the following ways:
-
unemployed and seeking employment in the next 2 months
-
you suspect fraud and inaccuracies
-
you are getting assistance from the social system
-
you have recently been denied credit on the basis of a
report
The online process can be tricky as the companies
are not too enthusiastic to give a free credit
report but rather they usually try to upsell you to a paid version
called a consumer credit report which you can view anytime. This obviously comes at a cost, but at least it is
available to you when you need it. The free online report can only be viewed online.
For most people these days the credit report is so vital to any financial decisions
that they make that it would be foolish not to get a copy of it in one form or another, and a service to
monitor credit ratings would be the best.
If you are in a position to pay for a service it is so much more convenient,
otherwise you will have to navigate the waters to get the free one.
Many people have been delighted by what they were able to achieve in their
financial lives using credit reports, including opening up previously unavailable lines of credit, and saving
a fortune in existing payments by negotiating better rates.
